چکیده

Aneurysms of the coronary arteries are rare, and it is only after the advent of coronary arteriography that they have been diagnosed in life. They may be due to atherosclerosis, necrotizing arteritis, myocotic emboli, syphilis, or trauma, and occasionally they are congenital. The prognosis appears to be poor and death can occur suddenly from rupture, peripheral coronary embolism, or bacterial endocarditis (Packard and Wechsler, I929; ScOtt, I948; Plachta and Speer, I958; Daoud et al., I963; Sayegh, Adad, and Macleod, 1968; Konecke et al., I97I; Ebert et al., I97I). Recently surgical treatment has been successful. This report concerns two patients with congenital aneurysms of coronary arteries which were diagnosed by investigation and operated upon at the National Heart Hospital (D.N.R.).

Congenital aneurysms adjacent to the anuli of the aortic and/or mitral valves.

The unusual occurrence of non-infected submitral and aortic aneurysms developing sequentially in an adult prompted us to review the pathogenesis of congenital aneurysms adjacent to the aortic and mitral valves. The findings support the suggestion that subvalvular aneurysms, like aortic sinus aneurysms, are a result of a congenital defect at the valve anulus. Submitral aneurysms occur only subja...

Coronary artery aneurysms: a review of the natural history, pathophysiology, and management.

Coronary artery aneurysms or ectasias are dilatations of arterial segments, which are typically incidentally identified at angiography. Several large clinical series have described the epidemiology and natural history of these malformations. The most common etiologic factor for coronary aneurysms is atherosclerotic coronary artery disease, but they can also be congenital or secondary to inflamm...
